#LoveNotes: Write Your Name Across My.....Skin!!!!

I have heard countless conversations in my short lifetime about whether or not people in relationships should get matching tattoos or ink each others names to their skin. My question is often why  it should even matter to those outside the relationship and what is with all the talk about regretting it when and if the relationship ends. I would like to submit to you that the chance the relationship may end is no longer a great reason to not get your man's/ woman's name inked to your skin. We are living in an age where a good #Tattoo artiste can cover up beautifully any tattoo you regret getting, also when and if you so desire you may get the name surgically removed if you can afford it. That will leave a mark just so you know. #NickCannon got a huge #Mariah tattoo when he married the singer. He got that covered up nicely after they announced they were getting a divorce. A day ago it was reported on social media that rapper #Tyga got #KylieJenner's name tattooed to prove his love for her....if that's true Tyga as so many other tattoos I'm sure we'll hardly ever be able to see where her name has been inked. I say all of that to say this- it's not such a big deal anymore people!!!

The real issue in my opinion is whether or not you like tattoos, have tattoos already and love getting tattoos and not if you should or shouldn't get your significant other's name on your body. If you are a tattoo fan, you love your beau, you do not feel pressured into doing it and feel like making that step then go ahead it is your skin. If you don't like tattoos then think about doing something else like maybe buying a his and hers watch set and getting them engraved for each of you with both your names and the date you started your relationship. If you like tattoos but not sure you want to get your significant others full name for whatever reason, get matching tattoos, for example a king's crown and a queen's crown or get initials. Another suggestion, make it small or don't place it somewhere where all eyes can see it.  Either way don't make the decisions you want to make for your relationship any one else's business. Until my next love note stay happy and stay in-love.

Being Mary Jane- Season 2 Finale Recap. #BMJFinale

The Being Mary Jane finale had several great moments. Its hard to speak on all of them, so I'm going to speak on four of the scenes that stood out the most to me. I'll discuss each scene in numbered point format.

Point One: Sheldon planned a nice dinner and a movie date for Mary-Jane and she called it corny. Ladies learn from that. When a man goes out of his way to "plan" a date even if it looks corny to you appreciate it and tell him that you appreciate it and enjoy his effort.

Point Two: I started to pay attention the moment Mary Jane asked about her toothbrush while staying at Sheldon's house, the moment he seemed to be annoyed by her presence in his home and when Mary Jane took off her shoes in the Kitchen and he took them up to put them a way it lead me to tweet that when women begin to spend more time at a man's home she should try to pay close attention to how he treats his home and I'll now add to that a woman should pay attention to how much time she spends there too. It's not easy for a man who has rules and is set in his way to change. So when he begins to open up, its best to tread carefully. I say the same thing for men too. Pay attention to how the woman treats her home most times these idiosyncrasies will not change.

Point Three: The discussion Mary Jane had with Sheldon after he kept throwing her toothbrush in the trash. Turns out Sheldon doesn't believe in "cohabitation", marriage or children. Yet he went into a relationship with her (Mary-Jane) knowing fully well she wanted all of the above. The writers of Being Mary-Jane brought up a very valid point. Why is it that we have to wait months before we start discussing what our expectations are. I firmly believe just like Mary-Jane that as soon as the "we are in a relationship" statement is made then that is the moment when every expectation should be laid out. It's ok to settle sometimes but when settling does not come with any compromises on the other persons part then please do like Mary Jane and walk away.

Point Four: The last scene left us hanging. As any season finale should. That crash was too real for me and I had to tweet that too. I'm sure Mara and the other writers of Being Mary Jane aren't going to kill off Gabriel Union's character so it will be interesting to see how Mary-Jane and all her relationships will change after the crash. Especially her relationship with her best friend and David whose "butt dialing" incident lead to Mary-Jane over hearing all the dirty secrets David and her BFF since childhood have been keeping from her. So hopefully the writers won't give Mary-Jane amnesia next season. That final scene also taught us all a valuable lesson about life. In the blink of an eye so much can happen and a lot can change.

Love Notes April 2015- Social Media Pics of Relationships Past.

Hello Readers:
I was talking to a male friend recently who was telling me that his girlfriend of eight months is making a big deal about him not deleting the facebook pictures of his ex from his page. At first I thought she was being immature (I know us women can get that way about things like that sometimes) but after looking at the photos on his page and seeing that some of the pictures basically were a lot of PDA, their friends and family saying how much he and his ex looked good together and were meant for each other and posts where he and his ex girlfriend were professing their love for each other, I started to understand why his new girl wanted the photos to be removed. I asked him who it would hurt if he did delete them and if being in a new relationship didn't mean that he should be moving on? I got through to him and now the pictures have been removed.

I began to wonder how many couples out there are having this same argument and  how many males don't feel like it's a big deal to still have on showcase the photos of the happy moments shared with their ex. Studies show that social media is one of the main reasons many relationships end in these days. You may not understand your new girl's reasoning behind why she wants the photos to come down but it is simple.......she wants to know that she has basically erased all memories of your ex from your mind, she wants to know that you care for her enough to respect her wishes and consider her feelings especially when she is fighting for that place in your heart your ex once held. It is sometimes ok for you to remain social media friends with your ex but I honestly feel that all those lovey-dovey photos of you together can or should be deleted when the relationship ends, especially when you are now public with your new relationship. At the end of the day if your new significant other asks that the pictures be removed just do it.

Lisa Hanna VS Chronixx Part 2!!!!!!!

Jamaican reggae artiste Chronixx on the day President Obama hosted a historic town hall meeting with the country's young leaders at UWI expressed via his Instagram account some views that had many of his followers and others on social media saying that he was dis-respecting Obama. Many felt that though Chronixx concerns regarding the US espunging Marcus Garvey's criminal record is a relevant topic, the outspoken Reggae singer could have structured his comment differently. Lisa Hanna, Minister of Youth and Culture in an interview posted to The Gleaner's youtube channel states that Chronixx though he is a talented artiste with much to say must understand that he operates in a "global space" and must weigh his words carefully when speaking on national or international issues.

Whether or not we want to admit it, in this instance Minister Hanna has a valid point. Chronixx and many other entertainers, youth leaders, politicians and social media users in general, must always remember that we live in an age where just by the push of a button the world has access to every thing we say and even after we delete those Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts they can never be deleted from cyber space. It all boils down to "It's not what you say but how you say it." and if we assess Chronixx's post, though he presented a very valid point  the only thing that some people paid attention to was the aspect of that post that came across as disrespectful. Chronixx must continue to be fearless in the way he expresses his opinions and concerns and continue to help in holding leaders accountable but he must ensure that he does it in a way that does not take from his good intentions. We must all ensure that we are responsible social media users.
